A Solid Forecast For Snow

Area To Expect 5 To 8 Inches

As the latest winter storm heads into the area, it seems like we will be expecting from 5″ to 8″ of snow beginning at midnight tonight and continuing through noon tomorrow.

According to Foot’s Forecast, a dangerous and high impact winter storm will affect the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast from tonight into Friday. The National Weather Service has issued extensive Winter Weather Advisories, Winter Storm Watches and Warnings extending from Northern Virginia across the entire Northeast megalopolis, including Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York City, with Flood Watches in Boston and eastern New England.

Snowfall with this system could easily exceed 12 inches in eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, the northern DelMarVa and eastern New York. Along the Bay’s western shore, amounts may range from less than 3 inches in Washington to south central PA and Northern Virginia, to 5 or more inches in the BWI-Baltimore area, approaching 8 inches in northeast Maryland.

By Thursday afternoon and into the evening, sustained winds will reach 30-35 mph with gusts of 50-60 mph possible, creating numerous power outages.

With this prediction, Eye On Annapolis will predict that Anne Arundel County Schools will once again close for the day further complicating the excessive snow day issues.  However, please check back here or on the school’s website for the official word early tomorrow morning.
