Lawmakers Up For Raise Amid bad Economy.  State lawmakers are currently up for a raise, even though Maryland is facing one of the worst economic crises in the state’s history. The Maryland General Assembly is in an awkward position this election year. In the midst of a recession that has included layoffs, furloughs and record high unemployment, all 188 members will have the opportunity to give themselves a pay raise.

Family: Title Company Never Paid Our Mortgage.  A local family who refinanced their home said they found out their original mortgage was never paid, and before they could get the problem resolved, the title company that did the leg work went out of business.According to state records, Maple Leaf Title Company had been in business since March 1999. But after August 2009, the company could not legally operate in Maryland because it did not renew its license.

2-Year Old Injured In Fire In Good Condition.  Anne Arundel County fire officials said three children, including a 2-year-old boy, were hospitalized after a fire in a Glen Burnie apartment on Sunday morning.A 19-year-old woman was also seriously hurt, and two adults suffered minor injuries in an altercation outside the apartment on Warwickshire Lane at about 10:30 a.m. Officials said the altercation had nothing to do with the fire.
