Workshop To Help Homeowners Avoid Foreclosure.  One bank is working to prevent Baltimore-area homeowners from going into foreclosure. Wells Fargo employees met with homeowners at the Baltimore Convention Center on Monday.The home preservation workshop is for those who have a mortgage with Wells Fargo or Wachovia. The goal is to help customers before it’s too late.”It’s really designed to help customers based off their unique situations find options to avoid foreclosure and result in payment challenges they’re experiencing with their mortgage,” said Joe Ohayon, a Wells Fargo spokesman.

Program Keeps Tabs On Vulnerable Adults Many families who have a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease worry that family member will wander off and can’t be found.In Howard County, a program called Project Lifesaver has been created that could help prevent that.The program was developed by police to quickly locate vulnerable adults who wander.

Group Worries Over State’s Reduction Of Foster Care Homes.  The state said it needs to reduce the number of foster care group homes in Maryland, but some group home providers are critical of the state’s efforts, saying they’re worried about how changes would affect children who need the services.Zachary Dingle runs Jumoke Incorporated, which is Swahili for “everyone loves the child.” He and some other group home providers said they’re worried children that the foster care program is supposed to help won’t get the services they need.

90 Day Legislative Session Begins This Week.  Once again, Maryland lawmakers find themselves with a daunting $2 billion deficit.And the balancing act will be even more unpalatable in an election year.The state’s budget problems again will play a prominent role in the 90-day session that starts Wednesday.With every seat in the Legislature up for re-election in November, tax increases have been ruled out by the Maryland General Assembly’s presiding officers.
