Mortons Closes
Annapolis Steakhouse Abruptly Closes
Monday evening when the employees of Morton’s The Steakhouse reported for work in at the upscale Park Place in Annapolis they were greeted by locked doors and a terse message in the windows.
We regret to announce the closing of Morton’s in Annapolis. Thank you for your business. The management & staff of Mortons in Annapolis
The upscale restaurant was one of the anchor tenants at Park Place. All exterior signs were removed from the building and any mention of the location was removed from the corporate website.
This is yet one more closing of a much needed business in Annapolis and yet another sign of how deep the current recession is reaching. With 76 restaurants worldwide, Morton’s apparently does not feel secure enough to keep the Annapolis location in operation.
This is the latest of many restaurant closings in Annapolis including Northwoods, Phillips Seafood, and just the other day, The Mexican Cafe.
You have your facts wrong. The employees were told of the closing prior to going in for work.
Were all employees told prior to the closing? The person who told me about the closing said that he went in for his shift and was told that they were closing. Regardless, it is a bummer for Annapolis and for the employees. Hopefully Morton;s has done something to offer employment at their other locations.
