Planner Appointed As Acting Director Of Transportation

UPDATE (01/04/2010 04:57 PM): Per The Public Information Officer, Phill McGowan, Director Danielle Matland is on a paid indefinite leave for undisclosed reasons. Kwaku Agyemang-Duah will be receiving a 5% increase in salary while he is the Acting Director. This increase is per the City guidelines for working out of class.

In a press release sent out a few moment ago, Annapolis Mayor, Joshua J. Cohen, announced that he has tapped the city’s Transportation Planner, Kwaku Agyemang-Duah, to serve as Acting Director of the Department of Transportation. Mr. Agyemang-Duah is stepping into the role while Director Danielle Matland is on leave.

No further information was provided. Eye on Annapolis has contacted the Mayor’s Public Information Officer for additional information including the length and cause of Ms. Matland’s leave, if her leave is a paid leave, and if there is an increase in salary for the new Acting Director.

While the Transportation Department is one of the most mismanaged departments in the City, we cannot afford to have two director salaries supporting it.
