Free HIV Counseling & Testing Offered By Countyworld-aids-day

December 1st is World AIDS Day. The Anne Arundel County Department of Health and the County World AIDS Day Commission will offer HIV counseling and testing on Tuesday, December 1, from noon to 6 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 171 Duke of Gloucester Street in Annapolis. The counseling and testing are free and confidential. Testing is rapid; results take just 20 minutes. Either walk in or call 410-222-7108 for a convenient appointment time.

“Over one million Americans are living with HIV/AIDS, and over 33 million individuals worldwide.  World AIDS Day is an opportunity for us to work together to promote the importance of education and testing in our efforts to reduce the occurrence and spread of HIV, said County Executive John R. Leopold.  We know that effective health care can help people manage their disease and live longer.  This free and confidential testing and counseling is the first step in that process.”

Other World AIDS Day events include a memorial service at 6 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church and a candlelit walk through Annapolis beginning at 6:30 p.m. Following the walk there will be a rally with guest speaker Councilman Daryl Jones, who proposed the legislation that created the County’s first HIV Commission.

  1. HIV is a nasty disease. Once you get it, there is no cure for it. Safe sex and abstinence is the only way to avoid getting it.
