Laundromat Rapist Gets Life In Prison.  A Baltimore man received a life sentence for the rape and robbery of a woman at a Brooklyn Park Laundromat. A judge sentenced 31-year-old Christopher Parr to life for the 2006 attack on a 62-year-old woman as she attempted to close the Laundromat where she worked.

MD Colleges See 5% Increase In EnrollmentFall enrollment is up by more than 5 percent at Maryland’s colleges and universities, and a local community college said it believes it knows the reasons behind the increase. The Maryland Higher Education Commission said total enrollment of undergraduates and graduate students at the state’s two- and four-year institutions increased by nearly 18,000 students this year to 355,000.

Stadiums To Become More Energy Efficient.  Baltimore’s two major league sports stadiums will be getting upgrades to make them more energy efficient and cheaper to run. Maryland’s Board of Public Works approved $12.2 million on Wednesday to make M&T Bank Stadium and Oriole Park at Camden Yards more energy efficient.

Dixon Jury Enters Day 2 Of Deliberations. The jury in the theft trial of Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon will return to court Friday morning after four hours of Thursday deliberations. The jury was sent home at about 4:30 p.m. after a day that saw closing arguments before a packed courtroom.Jurors asked four questions during Thursday deliberations, one of which asked for witness transcripts. The request was denied.
