Match The Court Record: An Eye On Annapolis Quiz

With all the hoopla about the Annapolis candidates, we thought it might be fun to have a little quiz. Here is a list of candidates (and the office they are seeking) and a list of court records. Just match the candidate to the court record.  Cosmopolitan has nothing on us! Answers are after the jump!

Name Office Court Infraction
1 Arnett Alderman-8 A Landlord dispute–settled
2 Bowling Alderman-3 B Nothing found
3 Cohen Mayor C Contractual suit for $1009 in 5/2008 dismissed by court
4 Conley Alderman-5 D Contractual suit for $3907 in 8/2009 dismissed by court
5 Cordle Mayor E Never paid judgment for $401.32 by Woodward & Lorthrop
6 Finlayson Alderman-4 F Home foreclosure
7 Fox Mayor G Speeding. 84 in a 55
8 Hoyle Alderman-3 H Failure to pay child support
9 Israel Alderman-1
10 Kirby Alderman-7
11 Monteith Alderman-7
12 Paone Alderman-2
13 Pfeiffer Alderman-7
14 Silverman Alderman-5
15 Stiverson Alderman-7
16 Toews Alderman-8

Methodology: We simply scanned the MD Court Records looking for the candidate as a defendant and selected one (if any) of the results to list. So, if a candidate has a long list, only one is represented here. We also suspect that it is a good thing this was not done prior to the primary.

But, what does this say about the people we seek to elect to lead and govern our city?  I wonder how this quiz would turn out if run on the current administration and alderman…probably not so good!

And the answers:

  • Arnett – B
  • Bowling – B
  • Cohen – B
  • Conley – F
  • Cordle – B
  • Finlayson – E
  • Fox – A
  • Hoyle – D
  • Israel – B
  • Kirby – H
  • Monteith – B
  • Paone – C
  • Pfeiffer – G
  • Silverman – B
  • Stiverson – B
  • Toews – B

    BAD FORMATTING:

Your quiz is interesting, but the formatting could be misunderstood. That is Arnett is NOT involved in a Landlord Dispute. I think you should run an explanation for those who did not read the “past the jump” section.

We are somewhat limited in formatting and are unable to typeset easily as they do in traditional media. This is New Media.

But I thought we did a decent job explaining that it was a quiz. One column is an alphabetical list of candidates and their hopeful offices, and in the other is a list (shorter than the candidates) of court “events”.

We even said “just match the candidate to the court record”.

Sorry if it was confusing to you. But to clarify, the “events” on the right do not necessarily correspond with the names on the left. There are more candidates than events, so that means that some candidates are indeed “eventless”.

If you want to see the results, you click the READ MORE link at the bottom and you can see who matches up with which event.
