The mother of the state’s latest victim to die from H1N1 flu complications is urging everyone take the signs and symptoms seriously.Rossana Bishop said she wonders how she could lose her 21-year-old son so quickly. Demetrick Bishop died Oct. 13, a few days before he and his twin brother were to celebrate their birthday.

Motel Housekeeper Raped In Room. Montgomery County police are investigating the rape of a housekeeper at a Motel 6 near Gaithersburg. Police said the 24-year-old woman was cleaning a room at the hotel at about 12:05 p.m. Thursday.Police said she left the room’s door open and she heard the door slam before seeing an unknown man inside the room with her.

Anne Arundel Students Help Feed Needy Classmates. A growing number of Maryland families are facing tough economic times, so some local schools are among those looking for help to feed the hungry.Students across the county are pitching in with the Harvest for the Hungry program to try to make a difference in the lives of fellow classmates and the community. For some students, a school meal is the only meal they can count on every day.

O’Malley: Stimulus Money Created 4,464 MD Jobs. Gov. Martin O’Malley’s administration is reporting that an estimated 4,464 jobs are being supported directly by federal economic recovery money in Maryland, his senior adviser said Thursday. Maryland will report the number to the federal government Friday.
