Winter Heating Costs Set To Drop. Filling up at the pump is catching some drivers off guard as gas prices jump nearly 20 cents at local pump stations in the past two weeks.As oil continues to rise, there are new concerns about home heating costs as we enter the cold season, as well.

School Raises Dyslexia Awareness. About one in 10 children are diagnosed with dyslexia, and one local school is doing its part to increase public awareness about the challenges those students face.Dyslexia is a learning disability in which children and adults have problems with reading, writing and spelling.

Uncle Convicted Of Niece’s Bathtub Burning. A Howard County man accused of intentionally burning his 2-year-old niece was found guilty on all four counts of abuse on Monday.Michael Oye-Adeniran was found guilty of child abuse, assault and leaving a child unattended after a jury deliberated for less than two hours.

Police Begin Screenings At MARC Stations. Maryland Transit Administration Police officers plan to conduct security screenings at MARC commuter train stations.Police will begin randomly checking luggage, packages and other carry-on items on Friday. The security screening will take place at stations on the Penn, Camden and Brunswick lines.
