Midnight Vigil For Walter Brooks

Hundreds Turn Out To Honor Friend

Hundreds of students, friends, and family turned out at midnight last night to honor the memory of Walter Brooks who died yesterday morning from apparent complications of the H1N1 Virus.

Walter apparently touched virtually everyone he met in his short life. Yesterday, his former principal said he was a “dynamic presence” and this is echoed by the hundreds upon hundreds of posts made to a Facebook Tribute Page.  Of those posts, many are made by adults; parents of friends and acquaintances which speaks volumes for this young man.

After meeting you the first time, I knew you were special. Your the kind of kid any mother would want to take home with no problems. A laugh that could make anyone smile on the worst day. Your spirit that soared and overwhelmed a room. I treasure… the times I spent with you and your friends. You had the respect of all your friends, that you so rightly deserved.
