Police: Two Women Killed, Suspect Dead After Chase. Anne Arundel County police say two women were found shot to death in Lothian, and a suspect in the case was killed by police after a car chase. (Eye On Annapolis followed this closely yesterday.)

United Flight Lands Safely At BWI. United Airlines officials said a plane has landed safely at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport after an emergency was declared. United spokesman Mike Trevino said the pilot on Flight 306 from Los Angeles declared an emergency after receiving an indication that there was a problem with the plane’s hydraulics. The Airbus 320 was carrying 130 passengers and a crew of five.

Kennedy Krieger Workers Hit By Stray Bullets. Two employees of the Kennedy Krieger Institute who were leaving work Tuesday evening were unintended victims of a shooting, according to police.Security officers reported to city police Tuesday that shots were fired in the rear of the 1700 block of East Madison Avenue.Dr. Gary Goldstein, the president and CEO of Kennedy Krieger, called what happened next an unavoidable urban event.

Anne Arundel Schools Work On H1N1 Emergency Plans. Anne Arundel County school officials said the H1N1 virus has been a topic of discussion all summer, especially how to make sure sick students and teachers don’t fall behind.”You’re sort of preparing for a worse-case scenario and hoping it never comes to pass,” said Anne Arundel County schools spokesman Bob Mosier.The district said in the event of a serious outbreak that affects student and teacher attendance, it will turn to school Web sites to post lessons and other instructional materials. There are also plans to use the district’s public cable television station to broadcast school lessons and to use its distance learning facilities to make lessons available at multiple high schools.

MD Man Charged After Two Delaware Police Officer Shot. Delaware State Police have charged one of two men in custody after a Georgetown police officer was fatally shot.Spokesman Cpl. Bruce Harris said Wednesday that 22-year-old Derrick Powell of Cumberland, Md., is charged with murder in patrolman Chad Spicer’s death.Officers responded to a report of shots fired at a fast-food restaurant and chased a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle until the suspects got out and fled on foot.
