Mom, Son Arrested On Animal Cruelty Charges.  Anne Arundel County officials charge a Pasadena woman and her son with animal abuse and neglect in what officials call one of the worst cases of animal cruelty they’ve seen.

ACORN Fires 2 Employees After Hidden Camera Stunt. The activist group ACORN has fired two employees of its Baltimore office who were seen on hidden-camera video giving advice to a man posing as a pimp and a woman posing as a prostitute. ACORN stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. Fox News broadcast excerpts Thursday from the video. The man and woman ask about buying a house and how to account on tax forms for the woman’s income.An ACORN employee advised the woman to list her occupation as “performance artist,” the video showed.

Frederick Teacher Pleads Guilty To Porn Charge. Federal prosecutors said a former Frederick County middle school teacher has pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography.Adam Windsor, 25, of Hagerstown, entered the plea Thursday in U.S. District Court in Baltimore. He faces five to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced Dec. 1.

Bay Reports Call For More Livestock Regulation. Federal agencies outlined recommendations in draft reports released Thursday on how to restore the Chesapeake Bay, including expanded regulation of factory-farmed animals, municipal stormwater runoff and requirements that increases in pollution be offset by reductions from other sources. Details on how many more animal feeding operations, for example, would be regulated has not been decided, but “the message here is that there will be, there is a commitment at EPA to increased enforcement and increased oversight of state programs,” EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson said.

Crofton Musician Vies For “Ellen Show” Attention (Video). A local musician is trying to raise $1 million for charity, and he’s hoping talk show host Ellen DeGeneres will help. Dave Tieff, of Crofton, wants to raise the money by offering his music for free; but requests that people who download his songs, make a contribution of their choosing to one of several charities. Dave’s goal is to raise a million dollars by the end of the year!
