Get A Jump, Register Your Burglar Alarm

BXP64658As many citizens are aware, new false alarm legislation was recently passed by the Anne Arundel County Council and signed by County Executive John R. Leopold. It is the goal of the County Executive to significantly reduce the number of false alarms in the county, thereby saving thousands of needlessly wasted hours of police time. Officers will then be able to focus more time on crime-fighting and the safety of county residents.

In accordance with purchasing guidelines, the county is currently working toward determining a vendor to service the new alarm registration program for the police department.

While this process takes place, citizens may begin to register their alarms with the police. To do so, simply visit the police website and click on the “Online Forms” tab. Print the alarm registration form, fill it out, then mail or fax it to the department at the number or address indicated. If you would like the option to register your alarm online, the police department will be announcing when that option will be available in the near future. The police department’s goal is for this program to be fully operational by January 1, 2010.
