Leopold Schedules H1N1 Symposium

County Executive Leopold to Host Informational Meeting about Plans for Novel H1N1 Influenza Virus

County Executive John R. Leopold  will host a public forum next month in order to update residents and answer questions about the County’s response to the H1N1 influenza virus.

As flu season approaches, we are being proactive by keeping our residents informed so that they are prepared to deal with whatever situation we face from this potentially deadly virus.  All of the experts will be in one place to answer questions and brief the public about what symptoms to look for, how to prevent illness and the availability of vaccines.

–Anne Arundel County Executive John R. Leopold

The meeting will be held Monday, September 14 at Anne Arundel Community College’s Cade Building, Room 219, at 7 p.m.

Suspected cases of H1N1, formerly known as Swine Flu, prompted the closure of Folger McKinsey Elementary in Severna Park last spring.  Now as fall approaches, federal authorities are working to dispense a vaccine.

Anne Arundel County Health Officer Edward Van Oeveren and Acting Deputy Health Officer for Public Health Jinlene Chan will be on hand at the meeting, as well as several representatives from Anne Arundel County Public Schools.  Those who wish to attend are encouraged to register in advance by e-mail to [email protected]
