USA Today Study Shines Unfavorable Light On Area Hospitals
The three hospitals that serve Anne Arundel County (Anne Arundel Medical Center, Laurel Regional Medical Center, and Baltimore Washington Medical Center) did not fare too well in a recent study for USA Today by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid.
The study looked at the death and readmission rates for heart attacks, heart failure, and pneumonia for hospitals nationwide. In Maryland, there were 45 hospitals and our regional ones did not fare so well. From these results, it appears that Laurel Regional Medical Center is your last choice of hospitals if you are suffering from pneumonia or a heart condition. You may even want to skip Anne Arundel Medical Center and head to Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
