A Happy Ending

A Recipe For Tragedy Averted

This release form the Anne Arundel County Police Department could have had a tragic ending. Three young men, two shotguns, one handgun on a dark road late at night in a family neighborhood.

On August 30, 2009, at approximately 11:08 p.m., officers from the Southern District responded to the area of 270 South River Clubhouse Road in Edgewater for a report of shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers checked the area and observed a pick up truck driving up the driveway of 270 South River Clubhouse Road. The operator then quickly reversed the truck after seeing the police officers. The truck traveled west on South River Clubhouse Road. Officers followed the truck in their patrol vehicles and approached the truck in the driveway of 222 South River Clubhouse Road. The operator turned the headlights off and exited the truck while the other two occupants were seated inside the truck. An officer approached the truck and observed that both doors had been left open. Upon reaching the truck, the officer observed two shotguns laying in plain view on the bench seat inside the truck. While the officer secured the weapons, he was able to see a handgun lying partially under the passenger side seat. The weapons were secured and all subjects were placed under arrest. All suspects were charged with weapons related charges and the driver was also charged with DUI.

Suspect #3: Gregory Michael Taylor, 21, of 1631 Millstone Drive, Edgewater, MD
