Three Candidates In Violation Of Election Laws
Can Moyer’s Election Be Recalled?
Annapolis Politics has broken a story about three Mayoral candidates who are in violation of the City Election Code.
Apparently, one of the requirments of a legal campaign is to have a Chairman (or I suppose a “person”) registered for your campaign and this person must be a City resident. This came to light after the Annapolis City Attorney, Stephen Kling, apparently discovered the requirement. Why he was not aware of it prior to this is anyone’s guess and a whole other discussion.
Regardless, the unnamed candidates (thus far) have been given until Friday to name a Campaign Chairman or to end their candidacy.
What about the past two elections? Were these laws overlooked? Complied with? Can we have a recall election and get rid of the Mayor we have? I wonder!
It is likely that chairmen will be found, but it is good to know that dirty politics is alive and well in Annapolis!
