Hundreds Gather In Support Of Family

Last night, hundreds of friends, families and neighbors gathered along Nantucket Drive to support the family of Chris Jones in a vigil to honor his memory.

Chris’s parents David Jones and Jennifer Adkins spoke to the media.  “Look at this.  No parent should go through what we’re going through,” explained his father.

Chris had recent transferred from Arundel High School in Gambrills to South River High School in Edgewater in an effort to keep him safe from gang activity.  His mother, Jennifer Adkins lamented, “It followed him into the streets and he did nothing.  He was not affiliated with a gang.”

The community wants the violence to stop and the County has arranged a Community Meeting for tomorrow night. County Executive Leopold, Police Chief Teare, and school Superintendent Maxwell will be present to address the concerns of a frightened community.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 3, 2009  at 11 am at the Riva Trace Baptist Church on Central Avenue in Davidsonville.  It is expected that the schools will allow students to attend.
