A Junior Remembers

cloudArundel Senior High School will forever remember Christopher Jones. He was a freshman at my high school for the majority of the year, but with 2,000 students, it is hard to know everyone. I never got the chance to get to know him personally, but I do know that Chris was a nice person to everyone he talked to. I had talked to him once or twice with a yearbook question, but never really knew him outside of school, or other than just knowing he was a freshman and he went to the same school as me.

Last Saturday was a day that changed many lives forever. Many people, some who had never even met him, gave their support to family and friends. Over the rest of the weekend, several Facebook groups were formed, many text messages were sent, and countless prayers were prayed. People decided that as a school, we should come together and wear black the following Monday in remembrance of Chris.

When I came to school that Monday morning, I was shocked to see all of the students who wore black. It was at that moment that I realized the sense of pride our school holds, and the lengths people will go to support fellow Wildcats; even if they didn’t know them. Though Chris Jones was only a Wildcat for about a year, he was still a treasured member of our school and we will forever hold him in out hearts. It didn’t matter whether one was a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior; whether they had known him for awhile or had only seen him in passing; we all joined together to cherish his life and remember the good times.

Rest in Peace Chris Jones. You will never be forgotten.
