Mayor Prepares To Murk Up Market House

We just received a release from the Mayor’s office that she is convening a charrette (when we find out what that is, we will get back to you) to determine the suitable use for the Market House.

Please, we do not need any more involvement of the current administration with this property. We have already committed to paying $2.5 million dollars for something we already owned! And likely it will ultimately cost a lot more when all the other suits are litigated or settled.

Ellen, please go find a tree to plant or another Sister City, but stay far away from the Market House and let the next Mayor and Council determine the best method! We have gone through almost 4 years of mismanagement under your watch and lost an icon of the City. The entire debacle began when the old council (led by this administration) entered into a last minute deal for the leas of the Market House. Please don’t let history repeat itself.

Annapolis, MD (5-13-09) Annapolis Mayor Ellen Moyer announced a charrette will be held to discuss plans for the Market House at City Hall on May 30, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

This collaborative session will include citizen input and the process will be professionally facilitated.

The individuals attending will be divided into sub-groups, and each sub-group will report back to the full group with material for future dialogue.

Anyone interested in attending the charrette needs to be at the City Hall Council Chambers by 9:30 a.m. to register.  The meeting will work though the lunch hour.

Oh oh–we just looked up “charrette” and it does not look good.  According to Wikipedia, a charrette (pronounced [shuh-ret], often Anglicized to charette and sometimes called a design charrette) consists of an intense period of design activity.
