Six Flags-America: Summer Outlook

A Second Chance For Six Flags America?

six-flags-logoAfter our last column on a possible bankruptcy and generally a poor experience at our local Six Flags America, Julia Filz, their PR Manager contacted me to let me know that since my past visit, many changes have been made. I am always one to give second (and third) chances, so I will take her at her word and will venture to Six Flags America again this summer. Considering she made the effort to reach out to Eye On Annapolis, I have to think that she probably can back up what she says!

Among the highlights of a summer season that opened on April 4th include:

  • A Sean Kingston and Colby O’Donis Concert April 9
  • More Concerts – The STARBURST® Summer Concert Series presented by T-Mobile® returns to headline a value-packed concert experience with a new star-studded series of today’s most relevant musical performances.  The park will host a total of eighteen shows with acts like Metro Station, Raven Symoné, All American Rejects, Kevin Rudolph, and iCarly’s Miranda Cosgrove expected to perform.  All concerts are free with park admission or a Play Pass.
  • All-New Shows – With 44 shows presented each day, Six Flags America offers its biggest show package ever.  Introducing this season:
  • The Best of Dick Clark’s Bloopers – This new interactive show in the Crazy Horse Saloon features a live host who encourages audience members to create their own blunders while watching some of the all-time great missteps from Dick Clark’s collection.
  • Rhythm Stix! – The dynamic drumming spectacular showcases a plethora of percussive pieces performed by dexterous drummers in a cacophony of chaotic fun.
  • Rockin’ the Country – Guests will enjoy the sounds of today’s country hits presented in this song and dance spectacular.
  • PULSE! – This power-packed show combines hip-hop dance, acrobatics, step and percussion and is sure to entertain guests of all ages.
  • FUSION! – A high-energy musical journey that incorporates the most popular dances, fads and trends in a musical experience for all.
  • LOONEY TUNES Talent Show – BUGS BUNNY, DAFFY, and SYLVESTER duke it out for the title of “Most Talented Looney Tune” in this crazy all-ages stage show.
  • Capital Railways – The newly renovated Capital Railways will take guests on a family-friendly train tour of Six Flags America.
  • Johnny Rockets Express – This all new restaurant features tasty favorites.  World-famous Johnny Rockets shakes, fries, onion rings and chicken tenders are on the menu at this new express location of one of the park’s most popular restaurants.
  • Cold Stone Creamery – Located on Main Street, guests can enjoy pre-mixed Cold Stone favorites, waffle cone treats and chocolate dipped cones at this express version of the ice cream specialty store.

The park is open daily Saturday, April 4 through Monday, April 13, at 10:30 a.m.  The park is then open weekends starting Saturday, April 18 until Friday, May 22 when daily operation resumes.  Hurricane Harbor Water Park opens on Saturday, May 23. Park hours are available online each day at the Six Flags website.

With a challenging economy, I am likely to keep my summer ventures a little closer to home and Six Flags will likely be on the list. What about you? Are you planning on heading to Six Flags this summer? If so, please let us know about your experience!
