As if Maryland does not have enough on their hands with a huge budget deficit, furloughs, and no light at the end of the tunnel, Senate President, Thomas V. Mike Miller thinks that Maryland buying Pimlico Race Track will be a good thing.
Pardon me Mike, WTF? Our elected representatives cannot even figure out how to bid slot machines and now they feel they are capable of running a racetrack? Magna Entertainment Corp. , Pimlico’s current owner and operator of Laurel racetrack has filed bankruptcy because they could not make a go of it. So why does Senate President Miller feel the State can?
Certainly there is a certain allure and panache to hosting the “middle jewel” in the Triple Crown, but at what expense? Mike, work on getting your constituents employed, insured, and fiscally healthy before trotting off to claim your title as “The Man That Saved Racing”. Please check your ego at the door and get to work!
