Blockbuster Feels The Economic Pinch

blockbuster-logoIn a move indicative of the declining economy, the local Blockbuster stores have shaved 15 hours off of their weekly hours.  While this reduction is being branded as “New Spring Hours”, you can rest assured that gone are the days of a late night movie run.

Old hours were Monday through Friday 10am to 11pm, Saturday 10am to midnight, and Sunday 10am to 11pm. The new hours are Monday through Friday 10am to 9pm, Saturday 10am to 11pm, and Sunday from 11am to 9pm.

One wonders if it is the economy, the accessibililty of entertainment online or the impact of cable based entertainment. Blockbuster is not alone in the reduction of hours, recently AAA Mid-Atlantic also announced a reduction in operating hours to make ends meet.
