Another One Bites The Dust

Boater’s World Closing

outofbusinessYesterday, I was headed to get my kids from school and the dayglo banner stood out like a sore thumb. GOING OUT OF BUSINESS!

As the Washington Post reported on March 11th, a bankruptcy court approved the sale of the chain from the assets of Ritz Camera (Boater’s World parent). It certainly didn’t take long to begin the liquidation. I imagine in two weeks time, the store will be vacant–flashbacks to Circuit City.

Store managers of some of the affected locations are stating that sales this past weekend eclipsed the sales of January and February combined. Apparently there are some deals to be had.

The sad part is that more people in Anne Arundel County will be unemployed as a result.  The Capital is reporting that 30 area jobs will be affected.

    Sad. :(

Tony Robbins had an interesting tweet yesterday about something he tweeted on March 2nd. On that date he said that he coaches one of the best financial geniuses of the world who is a top trader. The client told him then that the bottom was near — the Dow was at about 6500. Yesterday, Tony tweeted about how the Dow is back up to 8000. It went back up 1500 points in less than a month.

I’ve always said that nobody can truly predict the markets, but it sounds like Mr. Robbins’ client may be able to. Here is hoping he was right!

It’s all psychology. For as long as we think we are in a very bad recession we will be. When we collectively think we aren’t anymore we won’t be. Then the jobs will start coming back.
