Time and Tides Chesapeake Bay Benefit Cruise

The Friends of the Rising Sun Inn is partnering with Cruises on the Bay™ by Watermark® to host an afternoon fun as we cruise the Chesapeake Bay to tales of times gone by and raise money to support the ongoing preservation projects at the Historic Rising Sun Inn located on the famed Washington Rochambeau Revolutionary Route, Generals Highway, in Crownsville, Maryland.

The Time and Tides Cruise: Tales of Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay will be on Thursday, August 10, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (cruise departs at 11:15 a.m.) at Annapolis City Docks, 1 Dock Street, Annapolis. Tickets for this Benefit Cruise are $55.00 for adults and $28.00 for children (ages 3 – 11) and include a three-hour Bay cruise featuring a live interpreter. Hear tales of smuggling, rum running, piracy, and the legend of Chessie, the Chesapeake Bay Sea Monster. Sit back and enjoy the sites along the waters of the Bay including the scenic Severn River, the Bay Bridge, icons of Annapolis, and historic lighthouses. Box lunches (turkey/cheese or ham/cheese) are also available for $10.00 and must be purchased in advance. Beverages are available for purchase on the boat only, and the Watermark® folks do allow outside beverages. All proceeds raised will support the much needed repairs and the ongoing preservation and restoration of the Inn to include painting the Inn, a new carriage house roof, and foundation repair.

The Friends of the Rising Sun Inn is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable organization established to provide funding for the preservation, restoration, repair, maintenance, and operation of the Rising Sun Inn and property as an historical site and museum. The Rising Sun Inn, a colonial era farmhouse and tavern located in Crownsville and listed with the National Registry of Historic Places, was built by Edward Baldwin, circa 1753, and is a rare surviving example of a pre-Revolutionary framed farmhouse.
