Join us for the finale of the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center’s free evening lecture series of 2017, with cartoonist Jim Toomey! An Annapolis resident, Toomey has communicated about ocean science and conservation for over 20 years, most prominently through Sherman’s
Lagoon, a national comic strip that explores environmental issues underwater and earned him the 2000 Environmental Hero Award. In this talk, Toomey will use live drawing to show how he illustrates his characters, and describe how he uses art and humor to draw attention to the environment.
Lecture starts at 7pm in the Charles McC. Mathias Laboratory. Dessert reception at 6:30. Free and open to all! No RSVP required.
