4th Annual Lights of Kindness scheduled at Homestead Gardens

The Rotary Club of South Anne Arundel County is planning the fourth annual Lights of Kindness, a unique fund-raising contest that will take place at Homestead Gardens in Davidsonville, Thursday November 30 through Sunday December 3. In the spirit of the holiday season, the goal of the Lights of Kindness tree decoration contest is to raise funds for charities, but also raise awareness of the efforts of sponsors and the charities to make our community a better place.

The Rotary Club seeking is area businesses to sponsor local non-profit charities to decorate a tree for the Lights of Kindness. To participate, businesses or other organizations should contact the Rotary Club, decide on a charity to support, a their level of sponsorship, and work with a charity to decorate a tree.  Sponsor businesses, and the charities they support, will be prominently identified.

The public may tour the holiday forest at Homestead Gardens and or go online to vote for their favorite tree or noblest cause by contributing dollars for an equivalent number of votes. Every dollar donated counts as a vote, and benefits our local community.  The community is encouraged to visit the Holiday Forest at Homestead Gardens, vote, and enjoy this family oriented event. Online votes for a dollar each may be made beginning Thursday evening, November 3rd at a special website:http://www.rotarylightsofkindness.org

For every vote a tree receives, half of the proceeds will be donated to the designated Charity and half will be donated to the Rotary Club of South Anne Arundel County Charitable Foundation.  A cash donation prize will be split among the Charities’ top three decorated trees receiving the most votes. Proceeds will  benefit the  programs supported by the Rotary Foundationincluding: Bountiful Backpacks Program currently providing food for up to 160 elementary school children; the Dictionary Project; Haiti educational programs; the Rotary Youth Leadership Assembly; scholarships and the Polio Plus program to eradicate the disease world wide.

The hours for viewing the Lights of Kindness trees at Homestead Gardens are:
November 30th through December 3 (Thursday – Saturday) the hours are 9 AM to – 8 PM and
on Sunday December 4th from 9 AM – 3 PM
