16-year old charged in shooting threat against Northeast High School

On November 6, 2017 at approximately 10:30 p.m. Anne Arundel County Police were made aware of a social media post containing a threat of violence towards Northeast High School in Pasadena. Officers quickly identified the person who posted the threat as a 16 year old male from Glen Burnie.

Officers responded to his residence where they met with the juvenile and his parents. The juvenile, who has no affiliation with the school, claimed that he meant the post as a joke and quickly deleted the post from his social media account.

Officers determined the juvenile did not have the means to carry out his threat and there is no danger to the school. The juvenile has been taken a local hospital where he currently remains.

The 16 year old suspect in this case has been charged as a juvenile with threats of mass violence and disturbing school operations. He has been released to the custody of his parents.

The principal of the school notified parents of the situation in a letter posted on the school’s website.
