UPDATE: We have obtained the police report (below) and Robinson did in fact threaten Sheriff Bateman along with his wife, Elsie Bateman. He was arrested at the Arundel Mills Mall.
Walter Robinson, the 23-year old stepson of Anne Arundel County Sheriff Ron Bateman is being held on two misdemeanor charges of threatening a state official. Robinson was held this weekend for a bail review this morning. At the review, he was ordered held over for a hearing. He has applied for a public defender, but as of this time, no attorney is listed in court records.
It is unknown at this time if Sheriff Bateman was the official threatened or not.
Bateman told The Capital that his stepson was suffering from an “opioid issue.” In his statement, Bateman said, “I am a regular stepfather who had to do what was necessary to protect my family. I hope one day he gets the help he needs and stops hurting those who love him.”
