In a statement released on his Facebook Page, Anne Arundel County Sheriff Ron Bateman has tossed his hat into the ring again for a fourth term as Sheriff. Bateman initially was elected as a Democrat and switched parties after his last election to Republican saying that the Republican ideals lined up more clearly to his.
Bateman also had a bit of legal trouble when his wife accused him of assault in a domestic dispute. The case was ultimately settled and the two remain married.
Bateman has two Republican challengers in Jim Fredericks, an Anne Arundel County police officer, and Beth Smith. On the Democrat side, James Williams has filed for the seat.
