16-year old Annapolis High student arrested after bringing loaded handgun onto bus

On September 27, 2017 at approximately 2:20 p.m., the School Resource Officer at Annapolis High School, located at 2700 Riva Road, was notified by a school administrator of a possible weapons offense. The administrator advised that they observed the tenth grade student getting on a bus at dismissal and thought he may be in possession of a gun.

The School Resource Officer located the student, removed him from the bus, and ultimately recovered a loaded .22 caliber handgun from the rear seat of the bus where the student was sitting. The student was placed under arrest without incident. The student was transported to Southern District where he was charged as a juvenile with possession of a handgun.

Suspect:

  • 16-year old male from Annapolis

Annapolis High Principal Sue Chittim states that no one had any indication the student had the gun. As a precaution, they will be having an increased police presence tomorrow and the varsity football game scheduled for Friday will be played earlier in the day.
