Wynns, Ramierez help Baysox blank Reading

Baysox FieldAustin Wynns hit a pair of solo home runs and RHP Yefry Ramirez tossed seven shutout innings as the Bowie Baysox (64-58) blanked the Reading Fightin Phils (63-59) by a score of 3-0 in the rubber match on Thursday night at FirstEnergy Stadium in Reading.
Ramirez (13-3) surrendered two hits while walking four and fanning six over his seven innings of work. RHP Ryan Meisinger (1.0 IP, H, K) and RHP Scott McGough (1.0 IP, H, 3 K) combined to get the final six outs for Bowie. McGough notched his 10th save of the year.
The multi-homer game was the first of Wynns’ career.
The Baysox grabbed an early 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the first as Wynns hit his first solo homer of the night and Audry Perez knocked in a run via an RBI double.
Wynns (2-4, 2 HR, 2 RBI, 2 R) struck again in the third with a solo blast to left center off of Reading starter Cole Irvin to extend the Bowie lead to 3-0. The home run was Wynns’ 10th of the season.
Irvin (5-3) allowed the three runs on four hits to go along with two walks and seven strikeouts in 8.0 IP.
Bowie returns home to open up a three-game set with the Erie SeaWolves on Friday night at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. with LHP Tanner Scott (0-1, 1.83) on the mound for the Baysox against SeaWolves LHP Matt Hall (0-0, 5.40).
