Baysox FieldRHP David Hess tossed a career-high eight shutout innings and the Bowie Baysox (68-62) blanked the Altoona Curve (69-61) by a score of 2-0 on Friday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field in Altoona.

Hess (11-8) gave up just one hit while walking one and fanning five over his eight innings of work. RHPScott McGough (1.0 IP, H) tossed a scoreless ninth to notch his 12th save.

Altoona starter J.T. Brubaker (7-5) allowed the one run on two hits to go along with five walks and seven strikeouts in 6.0 IP.

Stewart (1-2, 2B, 2 BB, 2 R) doubled to start the ninth, went to third on a bunt single and scored later in the frame on Austin Wynns’ sac fly to open up a 2-0 lead for Bowie. The run was charged to RHP Tate Scioneaux (1.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, K).

The series continues on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. as LHP John Means (9-8, 4.24) gets start for the Baysox against Curve LHP Brandon Waddell (3-3, 3.88).
