Children’s Theatre of Annapolis auditioning for Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the beastDon’t miss your chance to be part of a tale as old as time in Children’s Theatre of Annapolis’ (CTA) upcoming production of Beauty and the Beast. CTA is pleased to welcome young actors ages 12 to 18 (as of the audition date) to audition for Beauty and the Beast, the beloved Disney musical based on the classic animated movie. Auditions will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, September 16, and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, September 17, 2017, at CTA’s facility, located at 1661 Bay Head Road, Annapolis, MD 21409.

The show will run from January 12 to 28, 2018, for three weekends, and actors must be be willing to commit to the entire show run, as well as the rehearsal period that starts on September 26. To audition, prepare 16 to 32 bars of a Broadway-style song, and bring along sheet music, a compact disc or digital recording for accompaniment. A piano accompanist will be provided; do not bring background music with vocals. Additionally, participants should wear attire appropriate for dance and be prepared to read from the script.

Beauty and the Beast will be directed by Michelle Harmon Bruno, music directed by David Merrill and choreographed by Elysia Merrill. CTA has been providing high-quality children’s theatre and education for more than 50 years. The theatre encourages young actors of all backgrounds to audition for its productions.
