Annapolis to host job fair for new energy park positions

Annapolis Mayor Pantelides announced a local job fair is being held on Thursday, August 31st to find skilled workers, contractors, and numerous other positions that will be critical to begin construction on the Annapolis Renewable Energy Park.   The job fair will be held at the Pip Moyer Recreation Center, located at 273 Hilltop Lane in Annapolis, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Individuals considering opportunities in the renewable energy industry, electrical, general construction labor, and construction site work, are encouraged to attend the job fair. Additionally, vendors interested in possibly supplying fencing, lunch truck service, project employee accommodations, water delivery, shuttle services, site traffic control services, and temporary bathroom facilities are also encouraged to attend.

“This job fair offers opportunities for local businesses and jobs for our residents,” Mayor Pantelides said. “I encourage everyone interested in working on this project to come to the job fair and talk to the staff at groSolar.”

groSolar, a Maryland solar development, engineering, and construction firm is sponsoring the event and will design and build the seven separate solar projects at the Annapolis Renewable Energy Park.  Once complete, the solar park will be the largest project built on a capped landfill in the country. Once operational, the solar park will generate more than 20,000,000 kilowatt hours of electricity each year; equivalent to a year of electricity use of more than 2,000 homes or the annual equivalent to removing more than 14,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide from the environment.  groSolar has nearly 20 years of experience delivering solar projects across North America and has other solar projects on environmentally sensitive sites in New York, Indiana, Vermont, and New Jersey.
