The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will close one of two lanes on southbound MD 295 (Baltimore Washington Parkway) between I-195 and MD 100 in Anne Arundel County for two consecutive weekends.
The closures are scheduled during the weekends of July 14 – 17 and July 21-24. MDOT SHA’s contractor, P. Flanigan & Sons, Inc. of Baltimore, will grind and remove the existing pavement to the concrete base layer. Crews will then repair the pavement joints and replace rebar (steel tension bars) following the preliminary repairs. MDOT SHA will then apply a new layer of pavement, improving the riding surface for the thousands of motorists who travel on the Baltimore Washington Parkway each day.
This work is part of an overall safety and resurfacing project that includes resurfacing roads in Anne Arundel County. In addition to resurfacing, crews will upgrade and replace guardrail; repair, clean and upgrade drainage pipe and inlets and reconstruct roadway slopes to prevent erosion.
Crews will begin work at 9 p.m. on Friday and will work continuously to have the have the lane open to the travelling public by 5 a.m. Monday. Vehicles travelling southbound on MD 295 will have access to the exit ramp to east or westbound I-195. Motorists should consider alternate routes as the lane closure may cause travel delays.
