Baysox FieldJosh Fuentes’ go-ahead three-run shot in the seventh lifted the Hartford Yard Goats (44-50) to a 12-8 win over the Bowie Baysox (50-46) in the series finale on Wednesday afternoon at Dunkin’ Donuts Park in Hartford.

A pair of walks put two men on and Fuentes’ three-run homer off of RHP Jason Garcia with two outs in the inning gave the Yard Goats a 9-8 lead.

Garcia (2.0 IP, 3 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 3 BB, 2 K) was charged with the loss for the Baysox and falls to 5-3 on the year.

RHP Matt Pierpont (2.0 IP, H, 2 K) earned the win for Hartford to improve to 6-1 on the season.

The Baysox jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the first as Garabez Rosa drew a two-out walk and scored from first on Aderlin Rodriguez’s RBI double. Rodriguez came around on DJ Stewart’s RBI single later in the inning.

Hartford quickly responded with a four spot in the home half of the frame as Fuentes knocked home a pair with a two-run double and Jan Vazquez delivered a pair of his own with a two-run single.

Back-to-back RBI singles from Rodriguez and Stewart in the third tied things at four apiece for the Baysox.

In the top of the fifth, Stewart drew a two-out walk, advanced to second on a single and scored on Stevie Wilkerson’s RBI single to give Bowie a 5-4 lead.

Hartford starter Craig Schlitter (n/d) surrendered five runs on 10 hits while walking and fanning a pair in 4.2 IP.

Drew Weeks’ two-run shot in the bottom half of the inning off of Baysox starter John Means put the Yard Goats back in front at 6-5.

Means (n/d) gave up the six runs on eight hits to go along with two walks and two strikeouts in six innings of work.

In the top of the sixth, Mike Yastrzemki singled and Adrian Marin drew a walk before Rosa cleared the bases with a three-run blast off of RHP Troy Neiman (1.1 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 ER, BB) to give the Baysox an 8-6 lead for the time being.

The home run was Rosa’s 11th of the season, which matched his career-high in a single season.

Weeks’ two-run homer in the bottom half of the eighth made it a 12-8 game in favor of the hosts.

Rodriguez (2-5, 2B, 2 RBI, R), Rosa (2-4, HR, 3 RBI, 3 R), Stewart (2-3, 2 RBI, BB, R) and Yastrzemski (4-5, 2 2B, 2 R) all had a multi-hit game for manager Gary Kendall’s squad.

The Baysox return home to open a four-game set with the Altoona Curve on Thursday night at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. as RHP Jesus Liranzo (1-3, 5.17) will be on the mound for the Baysox against Curve RHP Alex McRae (7-4, 3.82).
