Chief Clifton Krok, 35, was operating a fire department SUV owned by the EHVFC as he was responding to a reported dwelling fire in the 200 block of West Haven Drive. Just after 12:00 p.m., as he was responding, he became involved in an auto accident with a second vehicle and subsequently struck a utility pole in the area of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard and Hill Road. Other fire department personnel responding to the dwelling fire came across the accident and provided care to Chief Krok before paramedics transported him to Shock Trauma. He is currently at Shock Trauma in stable condition. The driver of the second vehicle was not injured.
The accident is under investigation by the Anne Arundel County Police.
Representatives from the fire department and the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association are with Chief Krok’s family at Shock Trauma.
Firefighters responding to the West Haven Drive incident located a kitchen fire which was quickly extinguished and confined to the kitchen. There were no injuries at that incident.
