Crystal Spring/Providence Point files plans for retirement community

The Village at Providence Point (formerly Crystal Spring) has filed their plans with the City having addressed all the concerns brought up.

In the final iteration, if approved will contain:

  • 315 Apartments
  • 18 Cottages
  • 48 Health Care Suites
  • 40 Maison Court Apartments
  • 5 Duplex
  • Along with several common components such as swimming pools, dining facilities, common spaces and fitness areas.

A traffic study commissioned by the NLCS shows that the traffic impact will be 80% less than what was proposed under the former Crystal Spring project. They have committed to building an environmentally friendly facility utilizing green roofs, prioritizing the saving of specimen trees, and bio retention measures.

The property consists of 63.43 acres; approximately 33 of those acres will be disturbed during construction. Of those 33 acres to be disturbed, approximately 27 acres of existing forest will be cleared.

There will be no impact on the schools.

The remaining parcels not included in the annexation easement will be retained by the property owner.

If the application meets the legal requirements, the City of Annapolis  now has to approve the project.

With this application, and the quasi-reversal on the Eastport Landing project, these developments may prove to be an issue in the upcoming elections for both the City Council and Mayoral candidates.
