Columbian Dancer and Jazz Quartet to perform free performance at Maryland Hall on 19th

Columbian dancer Fernando Montaño, soloist with the Royal Ballet of London, and the Colombian jazz quartet Suricato will give a free performance titled “Art Changes the World” at 7 p.m. July 19 at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, 801 Chase St., Annapolis.

These renowned Colombian artists have joined forces to develop this unprecedented project, which integrates ballet along with Afro-Colombian dance and a new genre of jazz combined with Colombian sounds that offers listeners a unique sonic experience. The Colombian artists present an interdisciplinary performance uniting ballet and Colombian jazz in a single space, transmitting the sensitivity of two disciplines that interact and converse, thereby creating a magical moment for the audience. Through their talents and aspirations these artists relate to each other bringing a message of integration and the transformative power of the arts.

Mr. Montaño has performed around the world with the Royal Ballet and other dance groups.

Suricato, has performed in South America, Europe and the United States and has been invited to numerous jazz festivals.  The quartet includes a guitarist, bass, percussionist and vocal soloist.
