Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney Wes Adams announced that Leobardo Jolalpa-Ramirez, 23, of Annapolis, pleaded guilty to Second Degree Murder of his father.
“Cases involving intra-family violence are always particularly challenging,” said Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney Wes Adams. “I would like to thank the Annapolis Police Department and Assistant State’s Attorneys Jason Knight and Terri Morse for their hard work on this case.”
On February 20, 2016, at approximately 2:50 AM, Leobardo Jolalpa-Ramirez woke his sleeping mother and asked her to follow him downstairs. The defendant then walked over to his father, who was sitting on a chair in the kitchen, grabbed the victim by the top of his hair, and stabbed him in the neck.
Jolalpa-Ramirez fled the house while his family members attended to the victim’s wound. Paramedics arrived at the scene and transported the victim to Anne Arundel Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Jolalpa-Ramirez faces up to 20 years in prison as a result of this conviction. Sentencing is scheduled for September 29, 2017.
Judge Glenn L. Klavans presided over the case. Assistant State’s Attorneys Jason Knight and Terri Morse prosecuted the case on behalf of the citizens of Anne Arundel County.
