4th Annual 12 for 1 Diaper Drive kicks off August 1

In 2014, while looking for a place to donate out-grown diapers, Jackie Weisman discovered the diaper gap, which stems from the fact that the federal program designed to help low income families, WIC, does not cover diapers. In the metro area, Diaper Banks exist to help fill this gap; however, no such place exists in rural Caroline County, Maryland.

This discovery led to setting a goal of collecting 3100 diapers (in honor of Weisman’s 31st birthday). Not only was this goal met, it was surpassed with a final count of 8101 diapers, along with a massive amount of wipes and diaper cream. These were all donated to St. Martin’s Ministries in Ridgely, Maryland.

In the following years, Weisman has facilitated the collection of over 30,000 diapers with the support of the community. This year’s goal has been set at 12,000 diapers. Donations can be made during the month of August the following ways:

  • Deliver new or open packages of diapers, wipes or diaper rash cream to the following locations:
    • Choptank Transport: 3601 Choptank Rd, Preston, MD 21652
    • Creative Gardens Nursery School: 1560 Crofton Pkwy, Crofton, MD 21114
    • Sears Hometown Store, Easton: 219 Marlboro Ave, Easton, MD 21601
    • Sears Hometown Store, Kent Island: 1521 Postal Rd, Chester, MD 21619
    • Friendly Flowers, Millsboro: 26582 John J Williams Hwy Millsboro, DE 19966
