Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities
The Department is seeking volunteers to teach Diabetes Workshops in Anne Arundel County on using the Stanford University’s Diabetes Self-Management Program. The 4-day training for these volunteer instructors will be held by the Dept. of Aging at Anne Arundel Medical Center on: January 12, 13, 19 and 20, 2016. After completing the training, the volunteer instructors will teach the six-week Stanford Diabetes education program (2 1/2 hours per week) at various places throughout Anne Arundel County, including Anne Arundel Medical Center, senior centers, churches and libraries. This program teaches participants how to manage their diabetes including how to avoid complications, how to stabilize blood sugars, how to count carbohydrates, how to read labels, and much more. To teach the program, some knowledge of Diabetes is required, and volunteers must be able to attend all 4 days of the training to become a certified instructor. Glendale Elementary School: Holidays Around the World, December 15, 2016
Volunteer carolers are needed to perform at this holiday event planned for 6-7:30 PM, Thurs., Dec. 15, 2016, at Glendale Elementary School, 105 Carroll RD Glen Burnie MD 21060. The event includes a dinner of holiday dishes brought by parents and tours of holiday displays made by students about holiday celebrations in various counties including Germany, Mexico, China, Israel, Iceland and Morocco. Volunteer carolers would entertain while parents arrive and during dinner. Other groups that could perform or talk about their cultures and how they celebrate their holidays would also be welcome. The Little Things for Cancer
The Little Things for Cancer is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for cancer patients and their caregivers. We serve patients and their caregivers who live and/or are being treated in Maryland. We offer support to each family based upon their particular needs at that time. Our goal is to improve the quality of life by reducing stress and anxiety for the person affected by cancer and those closest to them. Maryland Emergency Medical Services, Inc. (MDEEMSP)
MDEMSP, Inc. provides EMS workers for Special events and volunteers for staff support for other non-profits within Maryland. Volunteers are needed for administrative tasks, and Emergency Services Workers are needed to attend special events. Maryland Remembers Ceremony, December 15, 2016
On Thurs., Dec. 15, 2016 the Maryland Highway Safety Office and MADD Maryland will host the 13th Annual Maryland Remembers Ceremony to honor the victims of impaired driving-related crashes. This ceremony is open to all families and friends of those loved ones lost in these terrible tragedies, and we invite you to reach out to any families that may benefit from this time of gathering and remembrance. Law enforcement officers are requested to attend and escort the victims’ family members and friends down the aisle as a sign of their ongoing commitment to ending impaired driving. The site also contains parking directions to the Navy-Marine Corps Stadium where attendees will be provided with free shuttle rides to and from the event. Please note that registration opens at 11:00 a.m. and the ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. The event is being held at the Miller Senate Office Bldg., 11 Bladen St., Annapolis, MD 21401.

This local nonprofit assists the families of the working needy and special situation families in Anne Arundel County. Volunteers assist with programs such as Santa’s Share Your Christmas, Books for Kids, Children’s Winter Coats, fundraising and special events. Toys for Tots Campaign–U.S. Marine Corps Reserve
The local Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots is a toy drive for the underprivileged children in the local area. University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center
University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center’s Auxiliary/Volunteer Program is service-based and dedicates hours to most departments within the medical center. Duties can range from escorting patients and visitors, filing, entertaining patients with games and puzzles, answering the phone and running errands to other departments. Auxiliary/volunteers can also assist medical floors through Serving Spoons, a program that trains individuals to help feed patients. Auxiliary/volunteers also sponsor fundraising activities throughout the year and manage the hospital’s gift shop. We Care and Friends
We Care and Friends is a grass-roots organization that depends on volunteers to help where needed. If you are interested in volunteering during one of our fundraisers, mentoring youth, at summer camp, in the office, or during the Christmas Toy Drive, please contact us. We have a current need for an adult volunteer, 3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday) from 1:00 – 5:00 pm to help in the office. The volunteer needs to have familiarity with general bookkeeping, QuickBooks, and will also be expected to answer phones and keep an organizational calendar.
