Fish For A Cure to host tournament and shore party this weekend

f4ac_on_the_water“We are not content to ride our current wave of success, we want to make bigger waves; we want to help more people, touch more lives.” Greg Lilly, Fish For a Cure Chairman of the Board.

2016 marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in Fish For a Cure (F4AC) history. With a brand new pledge to raise yet another million dollars for the Geaton and JoAnn DeCesaris Cancer Institute at Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC) and with Eastport Yacht Club as a new partner, the organization is confident – and enthusiastic – to raise more funds in record time.

In 2015, Annapolis based grassroots nonprofit Fish For a Cure raised a cumulative one million dollars for direct patient support at AAMC’s Geaton and JoAnn DeCesaris Cancer Institute. Though the organization is celebrating their 10th Anniversary, a bulk of the million was raised in 5 short years. “We’ve had 10 successful rockfish tournaments and 10 awesome parties; we’re changing it up this year and looking to the future” explained Greg Lilly.

Fish For a Cure is run almost completely by volunteers including an all volunteer Board of Directors. Traditionally 100% of all Captain’s Challenge funds are donated directly to AAMC’s Geaton and JoAnn DeCesaris Cancer Institute. Yearly donations fund vital programs such as Nurse Navigators, nutrition and social work positions. These programs provide direct support, hope and peace of mind to cancer patients and their families during and after treatments. F4AC’s most recent annual donations range from $200,000 to $300,000.

This year’s rockfish tournament weigh-in and Shore Party will be held at the Eastport Yacht Club for the first time this year. This exciting change of venue offers many benefits to attendees: more docking space for anglers, easier boat access, facilities for anglers to freshen up and spectacular water views of downtown Annapolis as a backdrop for the Shore Party.

This year’s Rockfish Tournament and Shore Party will be held on Saturday November 5th. Boat registration is already open and Shore Party tickets are on sale at www.fishforacure.org
