Bello Machre BOA GrantBello Machre is pleased to announce it has received a $15,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation to welcome four adults into one of its new wheelchair-accessible homes.

“We partner with nonprofits that provide basic human services in order to connect individuals in our community to the resources they need to thrive,” said Sabina Kelly, Greater Maryland market president, Bank of America. “This grant will allow Bello Machre to continue to support the day-to-day needs of adults with developmental disabilities in the Greater Baltimore community.”

Currently, there are 7,000 people with developmental disabilities in Maryland on the waiting list for services. Of those people, over 1,200 are in crisis prevention and are in need of immediate services due to an aging caregiver or unstable living situation.

“The need for services for people with developmental disabilities has exploded,” Dr. Robert T. Ireland, President and CEO of Bello Machre stated. “Thanks to the support and generosity of the Bank of America, Bello Machre welcomed four adults in critical need of loving care and support.”

Through the Bank of America Charitable Foundation, funding will help individuals and families in Maryland gain greater economic mobility through increased access to food, shelter, benefits and other fundamental needs that will enable them to move toward long-term stability.
