Police investigating a double stabbing in Annapolis

On October 23, 2016 at approximately 10:20 p.m. members of the Annapolis Police Department and Anne Arundel County Police Department responded to a disturbance call in 100 block of Hillsmere Drive. When officers arrived and began searching the area, they located an adult male victim behind the shopping center who appeared to be suffering from severe trauma. As the investigation continued, officers located a second adult male victim in the 700 block of Annapolis Neck Road suffering from severe trauma. Both victims were transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with life threatening injuries.
As officers continued to canvass the area, an Annapolis Police Department Canine Unit located a suspect attempting to hide in a wooded area near Annapolis Neck Road and Hillsmere Drive. Anne Arundel County police officers arrested this suspect who has been preliminarily identified as Fermin Gomez Jimenez, 19, of Annapolis. Gomez Jimenez is currently in Anne Arundel County police custody and awaiting his initial hearing before the District Court Commissioner for charges including attempted murder.
This is an active and fluid investigation involving both the Annapolis Police Department and Anne Arundel County Police Department. The area where these crimes occurred is where the city and county lines meet. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Annapolis Police Department detectives at 410-260-3439. Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Police are investigating a double stabbing late last night in Annapolis.  In the end, two victims were transported for  critical, life threatening injuries.  Police were dispatched to a car accident in the 700 Block of Old Annapolis Road (County) and discovered a stab victim, in critical condition in the road.

Residents in the area also reported gunshots in the area that ultimately turned out unfounded. However, police did find a second stabbing victim, also in critical condition. behind the laundromat on Hillsmere Drive (City).

Helicopters could be heard circling the neighborhoods for more than an hour.

The Facebook Page Anne Arundel First Alert reported that a suspect was in custody just before midnight.  More details will be forthcoming this morning from the Annapolis  and the Anne Arundel County Police Departments.

An interim release was sent out by Anne Arundel:

At approximately 10:20 pm., on Sunday, October 23rd, the Anne Arundel County police were contacted in reference to a disturbance in the 700 block of Annapolis Neck Road, Annapolis.  Investigation revealed two persons that were possibly stabbed, one of which was located in the 100 block of Hillsmere Drive within the city limits of Annapolis.  The two persons were transported to Shock Trauma in unknown conditions.  Annapolis City Police and the Anne Arundel County police are continuing their investigations at this time.  

The investigation is ongoing with no additional information available.  More information will be released on Monday morning when the PIOs receive a formal briefing from the investigative arm(s) of their respective agencies.
