County Executive Steve Schuh today announced that Anne Arundel County’s “Not My Child” heroin abuse prevention and awareness program will be featured at the 2016 Maryland  Alliance of Information and Referral Systems (AIRS) Conference in Marriottsville, Maryland on October 21st.

“As we fight heroin addiction in every corner of our county, we need to continue to educate all our citizens about how this drug destroys lives and families,” said Schuh. “Our ‘Not My Child’ has become the gold standard for educating both parents and children about the dangers of addiction, not only in Anne Arundel County, but in other jurisdictions as well.”

The day-long conference will take place at the Bon Secours Retreat & Conference Center.  Maryland AIRS is the Maryland affiliate of the Alliance of Information and Referral Systems (AIRS), a nonprofit membership organization serving information and referral interests throughout the U.S. and Canada.

The local Maryland chapter is a nonprofit member organization that promotes quality Information & Referral by linking members and providing them with a communication forum, education, training and networking opportunities. The organizations mission is to  inform residents, and to facilitate increased, ongoing cooperation among health service providers.
