Police searching for Glen Burnie teen wanted for killing 10-year old family member, injuring another

On Monday, September 12, 2016 at approximately 7:42 p.m., Anne Arundel County Northern District Police Officers responded to the 6400 block of Roots Drive in Glen Burnie for a domestic related stabbing. As officers arrived on scene, a ten (10) year old female was discovered in the residence suffering from apparent trauma to her body. Officers searched the residence and also located a second victim, a thirteen (13) year old male, suffering from apparent trauma to his body. A thorough search of the residence revealed no other victims or suspect(s) inside the residence.

Medical aid was given to both victims on scene by police and fire personnel. The ten year old female was transported to the Baltimore Washington Medical Center where she later succumbed to her injuries. The thirteen year old male was transported to the Johns Hopkins Pediatric Hospital for treatment of his non-life threatening injuries.

Anne Arundel County Police Homicide Detectives along with the Evidence Collection Unit responded to the crime scene and conducted multiple interviews of witnesses in the area and conducted a canvass of the neighborhood. As detectives pieced together the chain of events leading up to this tragic incident a suspect was positively identified. The suspect is identified as a family member of the two victims, Andres Rafael Quintana Garcia, an eighteen (18) year old male from the 6400 block of Roots Drive. Multiple resources were utilized to include police helicopter and canines in an attempt to locate and apprehend the suspect. However Mr. Garcia has not yet been located.

Anne Arundel County Homicide detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Andres Garcia charging him with the following crimes in regards to the murder of the ten (10) year old female victim: First Degree Murder, Second Degree Murder, First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, and Reckless Endangerment. Andres Garcia has been charged with the following crimes in regards to the attempted murder of the surviving thirteen (13) year old male: Attempted First Degree Murder, Attempted Second Degree Murder, First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, and Reckless Endangerment. Again, the suspect, Andres Garcia has been identified as a family member of the victims and information suggests this was not a random act of violence.

The ten (10) year old victim will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner located in Baltimore Maryland for an autopsy. This will determine the exact cause and manner of her death. This is the eleventh homicide in Anne Arundel County this year.

Andres Garcia is described as an eighteen year old white/Hispanic male, approximately 5’05” tall, weighing approximately 140 pounds with brown hair and eyes. Andres Garcia fled the house on foot and was last seen wearing gray colored clothing. The Anne Arundel County Police Department is urging anyone with information as to the location of Andres Rafael Quintana Garcia to please call 911 as he is considered a violent and dangerous wanted subject.
