The Bowie Baysox have announced the “Mannyion” Manny Machado Minion Bobblehead Giveaway on Minions Day Sunday, Aug. 7 at 2:05 p.m. as the Baysox take on the Richmond Flying Squirrels at Prince George’s Stadium. The first 1,000 fans ages 13 and up will receive the bobbling Minion-themed rendition of the former Baysox shortstop and current Orioles third baseman.
Fans are encouraged to dress up or wear their Minions gear and will have a chance to meet several Minions during the game. Members of Louie’s Kids Club can also purchase a special ticket package for Sunday’s game that includes an exclusive meet & greet session with the Minions, free access to the Kids Park from 12:30 – 1:00 p.m. and discounted tickets. “We are very excited about the next in our great series of Manny Machado-themed bobblehead collectibles,” said Baysox Marketing Director Brandan Kaiser. “The Minions have been such a popular phenomenon for kids and adults and this opportunity to meet the characters and get this giveaway makes for a great family event.”
The Orioles 2010 first round draft pick, Machado appeared in 109 games with the Baysox in 2012, hitting .266 with 26 doubles, 11 home runs and 59 RBI. He was promoted directly from Bowie to the Orioles where he made his Major League debut August 9, 2012. Machado won Gold Glove honors as the top third baseman in the American League following the 2015 season and was voted as the American League’s starting third baseman for the first time in his career in the 2016 MLB All-Star Game.
Machado has also been depicted as a garden gnome, as the holiday-themed “Manny Claus” and as “Captain Manny” the pirate in recent years. This miniature Machado collectible is dressed to resemble a Minion with blue overalls, a yellow shirt and hat with goggles on the top of his head. A photo of the “Mannyion” bobblehead is attached.
